What Affects the AirCon Installation Cost
Unit Capacity
Split systems range from 2.5kW for smaller bedrooms to 9kW+ for large open-plan living areas. Larger-capacity units cost more to supply and may require dedicated electrical circuits.
Pipe Run Length
The standard allowance is typically up to 4–5 metres between indoor and outdoor units. Longer runs — common in two-storey homes or when the outdoor unit needs to be positioned away from the indoor unit — increase materials and time.
Wall Construction
Standard brick veneer is the baseline. Solid double-brick or masonry walls require core drilling, which adds time. Timber-frame homes have different penetration requirements.
Electrical work
Most installs run off a standard 20-amp circuit. Larger units (typically 7kW+) need a dedicated 32-amp circuit. If your switchboard requires additional work, this is quoted upfront.
Floor Level and Access
Ground-floor installations are simplest. Multi-storey homes or constrained outdoor unit placements add to the scope.
