DrCoool Air Conditioning

Air Conditioner Maintenance

Professional split system and ducted air conditioning Maintenance across Sydney & Brisbane.

Air Conditioner Maintenance Overview

A clean system runs more efficiently, produces better air quality, and lasts longer. If your unit has a musty smell when it starts up, produces visible dust from the vents, or has visibly dirty coils, it's due for a proper clean.

Dr.cool offers air conditioning maintenance for split systems, multi-systems, and ducted systems across Greater Sydney. Our maintenance service covers the checks and cleaning that keep your system running at full efficiency — and catches developing issues before they become expensive faults.

The best time to book a maintenance check is before peak season: before summer for cooling-dependent properties, or before winter if you rely on your system for heating. A short maintenance visit in autumn or spring is significantly less disruptive than an emergency repair call in July or January.

What Affects the AirCon Maintenance Cost

Maintenance pricing depends on the scope of work required and the system type:

Number of units.

Maintenance is priced per unit. A property with three split systems costs more to service than one with a single system — but each unit gets the same level of attention.

System type.

Split system maintenance is more straightforward than ducted system maintenance, which involves duct inspection, drain pan checks, and ceiling unit access in addition to the standard checks. Multi-head systems add complexity depending on the number of indoor units.

Condition of the system.

A system that hasn't been serviced in several years may require additional cleaning or minor remediation work beyond a standard maintenance visit. We'll assess this and quote any additional work separately before proceeding.

Commercial HVAC.

Commercial systems — larger-capacity units, VRF/VRV systems, or systems with complex controls — are quoted individually based on scope.

Why Choose DrCoool

Systematic, not superficial.

Our maintenance visits follow a consistent checklist: filter cleaning, coil inspection, drain line check, refrigerant pressure check, electrical connections, and operational test across all modes. We don't just wipe down the unit and call it done.

Written report on every visit.

After every maintenance service, you receive a written summary of what was checked, what was found, and any recommendations. This gives you a clear record and helps with warranty or insurance documentation.

Upfront pricing.

Maintenance is priced clearly before the visit. No extras without your approval.

Licensed technicians.

All electrical and refrigerant checks are carried out by licensed tradespeople.

Combined with cleaning.

If your system also needs a deep clean (see our cleaning service), both can be completed in the same visit at a combined rate.

AirCon Brands We Work With

We service and maintain systems from all major brands in the Australian market: Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Kelvinator, and others. Maintenance is brand-agnostic — we work on whatever you have installed.

For older or uncommon brands, let us know the model details when booking and we'll confirm compatibility and any parts considerations upfront.

FAQs

How often should I get my aircon serviced?

For residential split systems in regular use, an annual maintenance check is a practical minimum. Systems in high-use environments — running daily for extended hours — benefit from a service every 6–12 months. Ducted systems in larger homes or commercial properties generally warrant at least annual professional servicing, in addition to regular filter cleaning by the occupant.

What does a maintenance service include?

Our standard maintenance visit covers: filter removal and cleaning, indoor coil inspection and clean, outdoor unit inspection, drain line check and flush, refrigerant pressure check, electrical connection check, and a full operational test in both heating and cooling modes. We provide a written summary on completion.

Can I do any maintenance myself between services?

Yes. Cleaning or replacing the indoor unit's air filter is the single most impactful thing you can do between professional services, and it's designed to be done by the occupant. Most split systems have a pull-out filter behind the front panel that can be rinsed with water, dried, and replaced. Doing this every 4–8 weeks during periods of heavy use significantly improves efficiency and air quality.

Does regular maintenance extend the life of the system?

Yes. Systems that are maintained regularly run more efficiently, experience less compressor strain, and are less likely to develop faults from neglected drainage or coil buildup. A well-maintained split system in a Sydney home should reliably last 12–15 years or more. Neglected systems often develop issues earlier.
