DrCoool Air Conditioning
Air Conditioner Repair
Professional split system and ducted air conditioning Repair across Sydney & Brisbane.
Air Conditioner Repair Overview
When your air conditioner stops working — or isn't working properly — the fastest path to a resolution is a clear diagnosis. Dr.coool handles air conditioner repair enquiries across Greater Sydney for split systems, ducted systems, and multi-head setups.
Our repair process starts the same way as our installations: submit your issue and photos through our online quote system, and we'll assess what's likely happening before sending anyone out. This means we arrive with the right information, tools, and parts for the job — not to diagnose on-site and come back another day.
We handle both standard repair bookings and urgent fault calls. If your system has failed completely in extreme weather, let us know when submitting your enquiry and we'll prioritise accordingly.
What Affects the AirCon Repair Cost
Repair cost varies significantly based on the nature of the fault:
Fault type.
Some repairs are straightforward — a faulty capacitor, a clogged drain line, or a failed sensor. Others involve refrigerant leaks, compressor faults, or PCB failures, which are more labour-intensive and may involve higher parts cost.
Parts availability.
Repairs on current-model units from major brands (Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Panasonic) generally have fast parts availability. Older or discontinued models can have longer lead times for parts.
Age and condition of the system.
A system more than 10–12 years old may reach a point where repair cost approaches or exceeds the cost of replacement. We'll advise honestly if we think replacement is the more cost-effective path.
Emergency timing.
Urgent callouts — same-day or after-hours — may carry a higher rate than standard bookings.
System type.
Ducted system repairs are generally more involved than split system repairs due to the additional components and ceiling access required.

Why Choose DrCoool
Photo-based assessment.
Describing the fault and sending photos of the unit and any visible issues lets us arrive prepared rather than diagnosing blind. This makes the repair faster and reduces the risk of needing a second visit for parts.
Honest fault diagnosis.
If the repair isn't worth doing — because the fault is serious on an old system, or because the cost doesn't make sense — we'll tell you before you commit to the repair.
Fixed or clearly scoped pricing.
Where the fault is clearly identifiable from your description and photos, we quote a fixed repair price. Where the fault requires hands-on diagnosis first, we'll give you a clear assessment fee and explain what the likely repair range is.
Licensed technicians.
All electrical and refrigerant work is carried out by licensed tradespeople in compliance with Australian regulations.
7-year warranty
7-year warranty on any installation work. If we've installed your system and it develops an installation-related fault, it's covered.
AirCon Brands We Work With
We repair air conditioners from all major brands available in the Australian market, including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, and Kelvinator. For older or less common brands, contact us with the model details and we'll advise on parts availability before booking.

FAQs
My aircon is running but not cooling — what's wrong?
The most common causes of an aircon running but not cooling are: a dirty or blocked filter, a refrigerant leak, a faulty compressor, or an undersized unit struggling in high heat. Start by checking and cleaning the filter (pull out, rinse, allow to dry, replace). If that doesn't resolve it, submit a repair enquiry with photos of the unit and a description of the symptoms.
My aircon is not heating in winter — what should I check?
Reverse cycle systems heat by extracting warmth from outdoor air. In very cold conditions (below 5°C), efficiency drops and the system may run an automatic defrost cycle, which temporarily pauses heating. If it's not a defrost cycle and the system isn't heating at all, common causes include a refrigerant fault, a reversing valve issue, or sensor failure. Submit your details and we'll assess.
How quickly can you come out for a repair?
Standard bookings are typically scheduled within 2–5 business days. For urgent faults — system completely failed in extreme weather — flag this when submitting your enquiry and we'll do our best to prioritise. Same-day callouts may be available depending on current scheduling.
Is it worth repairing an old aircon?
It depends on the fault and the age of the unit. Minor repairs on a unit under 8 years old are usually worth doing. Major component failures — compressor, PCB — on a unit over 10–12 years old often don't make economic sense relative to a replacement. We'll give you an honest recommendation. See our AC types guide for context on what replacement might look like.
