Warranty & Service Information - Dr.Coool Air Conditioning Services in Sydney & Brisbane
Dr.Coool provides a 7-year workmanship warranty on all installation work, in addition to the manufacturer warranty that applies to any unit we supply. This page explains what is covered, what is not, and how our repair and service policy works.
What Is Included in a Quote
Every Dr.Coool quote is a fixed price for a defined scope of work. Before any job begins, the following is confirmed in writing:
For installations:
- Supply and installation of the specified unit(s)
- Standard wall penetration and pipe run up to the agreed length
- Outdoor unit bracket and mounting (standard ground-level or wall bracket)
- Electrical connection to an existing compatible circuit
- Commissioning and operational test
- Written Comfort Report on completion
For repairs:
- On-site diagnosis of the reported fault
- Labour for the repair as scoped
- Parts as identified and agreed before installation
For maintenance:
- Filter clean, coil inspection, drain line check, refrigerant pressure check, electrical connection check, and full operational test in heating and cooling modes
- Written service report on completion
For cleaning:
- Full indoor unit clean: filter, coil, fan barrel, drain tray, and housing
- Drain line flush where required
The quote you receive is the price you pay for the described scope. No additions are made on the day without prior discussion and your agreement.
What May Not Be Included
The following items fall outside a standard quote and will be identified and discussed before any work proceeds if they apply to your job:
Extended pipe runs: Standard quotes include a pipe run up to a specified length (typically 4–5 metres). Longer runs are quoted separately based on the actual distance required.
Non-standard wall penetration: Solid double-brick or rendered masonry walls require core drilling. If this applies to your property and wasn't confirmed in your quote, it will be identified during the pre-installation check and quoted before work begins.
Electrical circuit upgrades: If your switchboard requires a new dedicated circuit or additional work to support the new unit, this is quoted separately. It is identified from your switchboard photo during the quote process where possible.
Refrigerant top-up: If a system being serviced or repaired has a refrigerant leak, topping up without finding and repairing the source of the leak is not a permanent fix. We will identify the cause and discuss the repair scope before proceeding.
Access equipment: If the installation or service requires elevated access equipment not anticipated in the quote (e.g. scaffolding for a high wall), this will be discussed before the job proceeds.
Strata or council approvals: Obtaining strata by-law approvals or council permits where required is the responsibility of the property owner. We can advise on what is typically required, but approval is not part of the installation scope.
Repair Policy
Dr.Coool carries out repair work on air conditioning systems across Sydney and Brisbane. Our repair policy is as follows:
Diagnosis first: We do not proceed with repair work without first identifying the fault. Where a fault can be assessed from photos and description prior to the visit, we arrive prepared. Where on-site diagnosis is required, we confirm the fault and repair scope with you before proceeding.
Honest assessment: If the cost of repair approaches or exceeds the cost of replacement — particularly for older systems — we will tell you before you commit. We do not carry out uneconomical repairs without making the alternative clear.
No repair without agreement: All repair work is confirmed with you before it begins. If a repair reveals an additional fault not covered by the original scope, we stop and discuss before proceeding.
Refrigerant handling: All refrigerant recovery, handling, and recharging is carried out in compliance with Australian regulations by licensed refrigeration technicians.
Frequently Asked Questions
What warranty applies to Dr.Coool installations?
All Dr.Coool installation work is covered by a 7-year workmanship warranty. This covers the quality of the installation itself — pipe runs, electrical connections, penetrations, brackets, and commissioning. Equipment warranty (the unit itself) is provided separately by the manufacturer and varies by brand and model. We will confirm the applicable manufacturer warranty for any unit we supply at the time of quote.
What is covered under the workmanship warranty?
The 7-year workmanship warranty covers defects arising from the installation work — for example, a refrigerant leak caused by a connection made during installation, a bracket failure, or an electrical fault attributable to our wiring. It does not cover faults arising from misuse, physical damage, power surges, or normal wear on the unit itself.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Contact us at info@drcoool.com.au with your property address, the date of installation, and a description of the issue. We will arrange an assessment. Where a fault is covered by the workmanship warranty, we will carry out the remediation at no charge.
Are Dr.Coool technicians licensed?
Yes. All electrical work is carried out by licensed electrical contractors. All refrigerant handling is carried out by technicians holding the required ARC (Australian Refrigeration Council) certification. Licence details are available on request.
What if I have a problem with a unit Dr.Coool supplied?
For faults with the unit itself (not the installation), the manufacturer warranty applies. We can assist with lodging a manufacturer warranty claim or coordinating an assessment. Contact us at info@drcoool.com.au with your unit details and proof of purchase.
Does the warranty transfer if I sell my property?
The 7-year workmanship warranty is associated with the installation at the property address. If you sell the property, the warranty record remains on file and can be transferred to the new owner. Contact us to update the records.
